In the summer of 2023 I launched a new thing – group headshot sessions. I did three in the second half of the year and then in 2024, I went BIG! I absolutely loved the three session I did and wanted more – it was great for my clients and barely even felt like work to me. So in 2024, I launched a membership, held 10 sessions for 17 women in 7 locations and delivered 34 galleries.
The idea behind Capture and Connect is that it’s a social group headshot session with 4 local businesswomen. You get your individual portraits taken whilst being able to socialise with and support the other group members and afterwards to for a cuppa to get to know each other a bit better. We take a little walk so you get a variety of backdrops and the chance to mix up your outfits a bit. You don’t have to be ‘on ‘ all the time and often the other people in the group help inspire you. There’s been a real sense of camaraderie and everyone is supportive of each other and cheerleads the other members. It’s even been handy to have people step in as a ‘back of head model’ so it looks like you’re talking to a client.
This year I had 6 members who embraced the opportunity to have regular seasonal photos throughout the year, which could be outfit and background appropriate (think spring blossom versus autumnal leaves) and it also meant they made friends, as members had at least 2 shoots together. It was amazing to see their confidence grow and their ideas flourish, bringing different props to sessions or wanting to promote different things they might have on offer.
The result of the shoot is that your photos are full of personality and joy, because you’re so relaxed and actually having FUN! Locations this year included Berkhamsted, Tring, Wendover, St Albans, Old Hemel, Ashridge and Coal Drops Yard in London. In 2025 I’ll be offering the same locations, but adding more in London, and including Old Amersham.
Obviously don’t take my word for it, but read some of the testimonials I’ve received from my clients.
Rebecca said, “I have loved my Capture and Connect membership this year. Not only has it been a great way to make meaningful connections with some other brilliant women (some of which have gone on to become clients, others friends!) but the photo shoots themselves are like nothing else.
Tanya is brilliant at bringing people together and putting them at ease and as a result the photos she takes capture the sense of fun and enjoyment of the sessions. It is beyond helpful to have other people on hand to act as clients in the images and the seasonal nature of the shoots means that I have never been without fresh photos for my socials!
Because the sessions feel different to a traditional photo shoot there is always space for experimentation and play and so I always leave with a range of images that capture so much more than a headshot. Having other people on hand to capture b roll video of the fun is an added bonus! I can’t wait to continue with the membership next year.”
Katie – “Being part of the Capture and Connect membership this past year has been such a win for my business! With four shoots in different locations, I’ve now got a brilliant mix of stock images and headshots that reflect my brand through the seasons. It’s been amazing to have the right images ready to go at the right time of year—it makes my life so much easier when planning content.
As a service-based business, I get that having loads of photos of myself might sound a bit much to some, but honestly, it’s been a game-changer. It means I can show up online confidently and consistently, and it’s helped me connect with my audience in such an authentic way.
And the ‘connect’ part? That’s been just as valuable. Spending time with other like-minded business owners during the shoots has been such a lovely bonus—sharing ideas, chatting about business, and just feeling part of a community.
If you’re thinking about investing in your brand’s visuals, I couldn’t recommend Capture and Connect enough. It’s been such a boost for both my business and my confidence!”
Carli said, “I have absolutely loved my membership of Capture & Connect this past year, it’s been so useful to have a number of photoshoots spread throughout the year, especially so that I could get some seasonal shots outside where the weather and backgrounds (and my outfits) suit the time of year for posting, like sunshine and blue skies, or crunchy autumn leaves! It was great to have options of locations and dates across the year so I could choose what worked for me, and I always knew when my next one was so I could plan some ideas for what I wanted to capture – especially good if you know you’ll be talking about or promoting something in particular, then you can get some shots that will really work for that. Also, I can’t forget to mention the other people in the membership – it’s such good fun doing a shoot as a small group, helping each other and sharing ideas and feedback on the shots, mostly having a laugh as we do it and capturing lots of B-roll while there’s someone else to hold the camera, then getting to know each others businesses afterwards while we chat. So glad I signed up for this, I now have a bank of images to use all year round, that actually work for what I need, and bunch of new business friends too!”
Gemma – “I loved ‘Capture and Connect’. Not only is it an efficient way to get a lot of branding photography in the bag for your social media, but it’s really fun too! There’s zero pressure, you all help each other out with ideas and being ‘extras’ for each other shots. I really enjoyed meeting other business owners and having a chance to connect over coffee and to support and champion each other. Tanya is really focused on what YOU need to get from the photos and ensures that you come away with your key requirements covered and much more.
Because it’s several local shoots on location over 12 months, you get a range of seasonal backgrounds and topics captured – I have Christmas hats, Summer chats, Spring blossom and Autumn leaf shots ready in my content bank now. If anyone is nervous about having their photo taken, don’t be – Tanya is such a relaxed and kind photographer – you don’t even notice it’s happening (in fact, sometimes she has to remind me that photos are being taken I was laughing so much!). The only tricky part is choosing the 5 shots and I often end up grabbing some more. There’s no hard sell but just lots of great value and fun along the way. Highly recommend for connection, relaxed shots and a real community along the way – you really won’t regret it. Time well spent.”
2024 was all about the membership and I had lots of amazing women join me for a one off session too, and many have said they’ll be back for more this year, because it’s a great way to update your photos. Amy, a VA said this about her shoot, “I did a Capture & Connect shoot with Tanya, which was my first ever pro photoshoot and Tanya made me feel so relaxed and at ease! She knew all the best spots to get great pictures and even treated us to a coffee afterwards. My photos are fabulous, which I received in no time at all and I also met some other great ladies. I highly recommend Tanta and I’ll be back again soon!”
Sarah is a personal trainer and joined me just as she was setting up her business. We got action shots of her and it was great for her to start to grow her network. Sarah said, “I went along to my first ever Capture and Connect session feeling a tad nervous. I didn’t need to, as from start to finish Tanya made me feel at ease and totally relaxed. This is definitely her superpower! After the photo fun we all went for coffee. Chatting with the other three amazing business women was really informative as they shared their business knowledge, experiences tips and advice. Capture and connect is a brilliant concept and one which I will definitely do again, and would highly recommend. Plus, the photos are great!”
So, do you want in on the fun in 2025, because I would LOVE to have you join a session, and I promise you won’t regret it! And of course, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me tanya@aldcroft-photography.co.uk
