Autumn Mini Sessions - What to Expect

September 19, 2021  •  Leave a Comment

I'm really looking forward to Autumn shoots this October. Last year was my first year doing mini sessions, and I loved the colours and exploring with my families - crunchy leaves and crisp fern leaves giving us all the autumnal cosy feels! This year, I've even bought some matching shirts for my boys in the hope that I can get some 'proper' photos of them! It's a great time of year for getting up to date images of your children which can then make brilliant gifts for grandparents at Christmas.

I have a few locations that I use, and I'll be location scouting again nearer the time, but include Ashridge in Hertfordshire and Wendover Woods in Buckinghamshire. We're so lucky to live in such a stunning area of the Chiltern Hills that offers an abundance of beautiful woodland and countryside.

I recommend my clients have a think about what they're going to wear on their shoot. It's always important to think about the colour palette on a shoot, especially when you have vibrant Autumn colours. Pinterest is a great place to start for ideas, and complimentary colours include dark khaki green and burgundy, dark blues and mustard or teals and oranges. Depending on your taste, you can go bolder or more subtle with your palette. The family doesn't have to match, but try to compliment each other rather than clash! It's great to use layers too with cosy scarfs, hats and wellies!

I'll be doing Autumn mini sessions again this year. You get a 20 minute photo shoot and 5 digital images for £50, though I can also offer full hour sessions. There's no need to worry about how to pose, I will guide you through the session with some prompts so we have lots of natural and fun family photos, playing games with the kids and doing lots of running and giggling. I capture the whole family, siblings and individuals and always aim to give you a really varied gallery.

I'm taking bookings on Saturday 23rd October and some half term dates, but if you have a specific date or time in mind, I'll always do my best to accommodate you.

If you'd like to book a session please email me on [email protected]

"Tanya has been amazing. At very short notice I asked for an Autumn shoot and had a specific day and time that worked. She did everything she could to make that work, even though it was half term and she had her boys to sort out childcare for. The shoot experience was relaxed and my boys were happy playing and being silly while Tanya took some absolutely gorgeous, natural photos. We have got so many photos to choose from, I have no idea how we will narrow down our choices!! Thank you so much!" Reena & Yat

"We first met Tanya when she did our doorstep portrait during lockdown. I was amazed that she managed to capture several images of us where we were all looking the same way at the same time and actually smiling! We then booked an Autumn mini-shoot where Tanya straight away put the whole family at ease and captured exactly the sort of natural, fun photos I had hoped for. She engaged the children so well and kept their interest, and the results (I think) speak for themselves. I can’t recommend Tanya more highly and I will definitely be back for more photos in the future." Libby & Matt
