Bluebell Mini Sessions 2024

Great Outdoors

Bluebell mini sessions excite me so much because they’re when my family sessions start up for the year. I’m an outdoor family photography so over the winter, I don’t tend to capture my families.

Once the weather gets warmer and the leaves start to appear on the trees, I am more than ready to get back together with my families, and the bluebells are the most spectacular backdrop.

As the 2025 season approaches, I realised I was too busy last year to write my blog so here I am, late to the party to share some of my sessions with you!

One of the highlights was definitely Bella and Luna who had their own puppy shoot. Oh yes! Two best buddy pups had a photo shoot together. OK, so they did bring their owners too, but gosh it was a lot of fun, and definitely harder than photographing kids!

They weren’t the only dogs – I had two families with new babies who came with their furry family members and a family that’s been coming to me for nearly ten years with their two crazy spaniels!

Another returning family came, well two families of cousins actually, who I have seen grow over the years. It was so cute to have the youngest cousins who are about 5 months apart, interacting and hold hands – such special moments to capture.

I also had my best mates from university who got a shoot whilst visiting us from Cambridge – my friend Ben had bought a Mother’s Day voucher for his wife Kathryn so we were able to capture them with their two boys.

Shoots weren’t without a bit of drama though as I had to rearrange some due to bad weather and it was quite muddy. I limit my bluebell shoots, and have so many returning clients I don’t always need to advertise them. I also limit them in case I have to rearrange (for bad weather) and to help preserve the bluebells for future years. Bluebells are a protected species and although I always stick to paths, it’s important to keep footfall down as once trampled, they don’t grow back as well the following years. They are only at their best for a couple of weeks, weather depending, so I only have a very small window to capture families. It can make it stressful for me, but is also incredibly rewarding when it all works out (which it always does!)

If you’re interested in a mini session, drop me an email at tanya@aldcroft-photography.co.uk and I can add you to my waiting list.
