Christening in Tring

Events

In February, I had the honour of photographing Chloe’s Christening in Tring, Hertfordshire. I was approached by Chloe’s Mum after photographing the family for a Christmas mini session in 2021. It was a real privilege to be asked to photograph such a special occasion, and these events feel extra special now since covid. There were even family and friends that came from abroad for the event.

I treated the event very much like I do a wedding – I had a phone consultation with the client to discuss key moments and guests they wanted captured. I also did a visit to the Church beforehand and spoke to the vicar to introduce myself – it’s really important to me to be respectful of the service and not get in the way of my clients enjoyment or the guests – there’s nothing worse than a pushy photographer that gets in the way!

The ceremony was at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Tring, which is a beautiful Church, set just a little back off the high street, and is the real centre of the town. It was a glorious day too, if a little cold in February!

The service itself was a real family event as there were lots of children and musical toys were handed out for the hymns so the kids could really get involved. Such a lovely family focused touch. Chloe’s big sister was able to be involved too, pouring the water for the baptism into the bowl for the head wetting and holding the baptism candle after the ceremony. It was a very joyful occasion.

After the church service, everyone headed to the Café in the Park at the Red Kite Pavilion in Aston Clinton. The family had a private room here which included a bouncy castle and softplay for the kids, and the guests could enjoy the bar! The catering was provided by Cheese and Chai and was absolutely incredible, a real feast for the eyes. It had a cute Peter Rabbit theme with blue and pink coloured hot dog and burger buns, as well as gorgeous sweet treats and personalised biscuits.

Shalini, Chloe’s Mum said, “Tanya is more than a photographer, she is a true collaborator. I’ve worked with her twice and both times I really appreciated her approach and pre work. She always has a consultation to understand a bit more about what you are hoping to capture and what the images will be used for. For Chloe’s christening she left nothing to chance, doing recce visits to the church to better understand the layout and speaking to the Vicar to understand any concerns etc. She was fantastic and easy to work with on an event that spanned multiple locations and her photos perfectly captured our event and ambiance. The final photos really showcase her ability.”

If you’re planning an event, be it a Christening or big birthday party, please get in touch, it’s so amazing to have professional photos to look back on and capture your guests, so you can just enjoy the party! Prices start at £150.

Pitstone Family Photo Shoot

Lily and the Family

I often get requests to include the family dog in photo shoots, but this was a first - being asked to include the family VW van! We had the most beautiful and warm autumnal day and Lily (the van!) looked perfect amongst the Ashridge countryside. However, it wasn't all...
