💞 What better way to brighten up January than with a photographer’s day out in London!

This was me on Friday with @siobhanjohns_photography and @photobyannamarie exploring Covent Garden and being inspired by the energy and colour London has to offer!

I don’t shoot as much in winter so this was the perfect chance for some creativity and watching Siobhan and Anna do their thing was so inspiring - everyone sees things differently so it was wonderful to learn from each other.

Loads of chats and giggles thrown in and excited to edit some photos for them this week and get myself some new headshots too.

I like to practice what I preach and I encourage my clients to share their photos - to get visible and build trust in order to find their ideal clients.

Last year I sat on a panel for the first time to talk about visibility. Lucky for me it was with a group I know well and feel really comfortable with. The feedback was great and I thought, I should do more of this!

So last week I spoke to another networking group about visibility, but this time I knew very few people in the room.

Would I come across well? Would I be sharing information that they already knew? Would I be able to keep to the point? I wanted to add value.

I consider myself a pretty confident person and I’m an extrovert, but talking to a room of fellow business women is still out of my comfort zone.

But of course it was a success - there were great conversations and questions. You have to remember that no one knows what you know, and even if they did know some of what I was saying, we all need reminders. Thanks to @_levelupladies for having me and putting me at ease 🙏🏻

So, going forward, I’m going to be sharing more of what I know and giving some tips on getting visible. Some of it might be obvious, some of it won’t, but if it helps one person, the effort is worth it (and it’s great content for me!)

🌸 I think we all need a little pick me up so bringing you some spring joy during these gloomy January days. Believe it or not, we are through the darker days and spring is around the corner...

I’ve been pretty ok about January this year - it’s always a quieter time of year for me when I can embrace getting lots of behind the scenes admin done, and my tax return (not that I embrace that, but needs must!) I wrote my to do list before Christmas of all the jobs I wanted to get done. But yesterday was a really hard and frustrating day....

I finally began doing a website page for my video work, but it felt so hard. I’m a photographer, I do pictures and I’m not so great at writing! It’s especially hard when you’re trying to sell yourself - why should someone pick me?

👩🏻‍💻 Here’s what you don’t see so much here - all the behind the scenes business stuff you have to do as small business owner. I can’t afford to get any help in this area so the copy writing is down to me, the technical website bit is down to me and I’m not a trained marketer, I’m learning as I go, and it all takes longer than I’d like!

Thankfully, I enlisted the help of @rebeccalcracknell to help me on the day, who knows me and my business really well. She was able to guide me to focus on the value I bring and try to get across my expertise. It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve definitely broken the back of it and I hope to reflect my best self so people can understand what I can deliver.

It may not be perfect, but it is progress! So watch this space 🎥

Can’t wait to see some blossom out there and get back to regular shoots soon 🌸
