I had the most amazing shoot with Ellie of Becoming Mama in May, perhaps my busiest brand shoot yet! Ellie is an incredible business woman and mother who makes things happen. When she first contacted me on Instagram back in March, she had not long had her third baby and was already thinking ahead to the future of her business. Ellie is a midwife and lactation consultant that also runs baby classes including baby massage where she lives in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire. Moving forward she wants to focus more on her work as a lactation consultant and rent a clinical space and she wanted me to help her demonstrate this aspect of her work.
With a clear vision in mind and lots to fit in, we had our work cut out. Ellie was able to secure her rental space in Thame where she will be working from September and the clinic kindly let us use the space for her shoot so that clients would be able to see what to expect on a visit to her. Then, Ellie organised some of her amazing clients to act as models for the shoot so that we could get a range of mothers with babies at different ages. We had a pregnant woman, and three mothers, one with a newborn (6 weeks old), one with a 6 month old, and another with a one year old. Consequently, we had a very detailed shot list and schedule with 15 minute slots to capture everything. Throw in the fact that Ellie had her own baby there, a good few outfit changes on a very hot day too, and some profession specific props and you have a jam packed two hour shoot – Ellie was an absolute power house and I was more than up for the challenge!
Ellie received over 150 images to update her website and will be sharing photos on her social media for many months to come! Here’s what she said about the experience:
“I couldn’t recommend Tanya more highly for a professional photoshoot. I was looking for someone to help me with some headshots and “action” shots, to use on social media and to update my business website, and Tanya was recommended to me by another photographer.
Tanya was easy to chat to from our initial call onwards, and really understood what I wanted. I planned quite a complicated photoshoot including 8 models (4 of whom were babies of differing ages!), and a lengthy shot list to cover several aspects of my business, all to cover in 2 hours. Tanya was a great sounding board in advance of the shoot, helping me with ideas, practicalities, and of course outfits.
On the day itself (a very hot day – not ideal when I had a large suitcase of props, my own baby, and 7 outfits to keep changing between!!) Tanya was such a calming presence. She helped me relax, and kept us all on track to my ideal shot-list, without any stress. She gave both reassurance and creative ideas!
After the shoot, Tanya gave me a sneak-peek that day, and then had the full gallery edited and sent to me within a few weeks. I can’t wait to start using them for my new website, and feel like they will really help me give a more professional impression on social media.
