Autumn Mini Sessions – What to Expect

Great Outdoors

I always really look forward to my autumn mini sessions. Last years sessions were a highlight as a little boy told me he loved me within 10 minutes so I think I must be doing something right! I love the colours of autumn and exploring with my families – crunchy leaves and crisp fern leaves giving us all the autumnal cosy feels!

This year is keeping me on my toes, as the leaves are apparently falling three weeks early due to the heatwave, but maybe that means we won’t need as many layers. We’ll have fun crunching in the leaves and it’s a a great time of year for getting up to date images of your children which can then make brilliant gifts for grandparents at Christmas.

I have a few locations that I use, and I’ll be location scouting again nearer the time, but include Ashridge in Hertfordshire and Wendover Woods in Buckinghamshire. We’re so lucky to live in such a stunning area of the Chiltern Hills that offers an abundance of beautiful woodland and countryside.

I recommend my clients have a think about what they’re going to wear on their shoot. It’s always important to think about the colour palette on a shoot, especially when you have vibrant Autumn colours. Pinterest is a great place to start for ideas, and complimentary colours include dark khaki green and burgundy, dark blues and mustard or teals and oranges. Depending on your taste, you can go bolder or more subtle with your palette. The family doesn’t have to match, but try to compliment each other rather than clash! It’s great to use layers too with cosy scarfs, hats and wellies!

Don’t be worried about how to pose – you don’t have to get the kids to say ‘cheese’! I will guide you through the session so we get natural images. My style (lifestyle photography) is very relaxed, aimed at you all having fun together so I can capture your genuine and loving connections. I have a short questionnaire which I ask you to complete beforehand which helps to maximise the time we have and gives me some guidance on your children’s personalities before I meet them in person.

I’ll be doing Autumn mini sessions again this year. You get a 20 minute photo shoot and your 5 favourite digital images for £65, though I can also offer full hour sessions with lots of running around and games for the family to enjoy. I capture the whole family, siblings and individuals and always aim to give you a really varied gallery.

I’m taking bookings on Sunday 9th, Sunday 16th, Saturday 22nd and Tuesday 25th October, but if you have a specific date or time in mind, I’ll always do my best to accommodate you.

If you’d like to book a session please email me on tanya@aldcroft-photograhpy.co.uk

“Tanya has been amazing. At very short notice I asked for an Autumn shoot and had a specific day and time that worked. The shoot experience was relaxed and my boys were happy playing and being silly while Tanya took some absolutely gorgeous, natural photos. We have got so many photos to choose from, I have no idea how we will narrow down our choices!! Thank you so much!” Reena & Yat

Winter Family Photo Shoot

A winter extended family photo shoot amongst the pine trees in Wendover Woods was the perfect memory making for this family over Christmas. As a rule I don't usually do family photo shoots during the winter. The weather is unpredictable and even if it is dry, children...
