I LOVE an extended family photo shoot and this one was in one of my favourite spots in Buckinghamshire, Coombe Hill. This particular family got in touch to gift Grandma a photo shoot as she was desperate for some quality family photos. I’m getting more and more enquiries about extended family photo shoots for the grandparents – it’s the perfect gift for the person who has everything – it’s the gift of time with the grandchildren with no distractions and then the perfect keepsake memories to have.
Autumn is a lovely time of year for photos as it’s not yet too cold and the colours are so vibrant and warm. Views from Coombe Hill are really special too and this was somewhere that meant a lot to the family having spent a lot of time here growing up.
An extended family photo shoot is approximately 90 minutes long which gives lots of time to explore and get a variety of backdrops. We play games and run races so the children have plenty of entertainment and I can get lots of natural and relaxed smiles and giggles. These children were aged 3 to 8 years and they all had a great time together. I get images of the whole family together as well as the smaller family groups, sibling groups with individual headshots of the children and the grandparents with the grandchildren of course.
This family was so much fun it barely felt like work and it was an absolute joy to look back at the images when editing. The family were so pleased with the shoot and I got this reaction when they received their gallery: “Just wanted to say thank you for the incredible pictures you have taken. The gallery is beautiful and so many wonderful pictures of all our families. Thank you again for all your hard work. I’m so delighted with all the pictures. You’ve really captured some beautiful moments that will last a lifetime.”
