Kings Chapel, Old Amersham Wedding – Lucy & Ben

Weddings

We had a beautiful spring day in Old Amersham at Kings Chapel for Lucy and Ben’s wedding back in April.

This wedding felt very special personally, because I met Lucy and Ben when I took their doorstep portrait during lockdown in May 2020. I was so touched, that following our brief meeting outside their home, they thought of me as the person they wanted to capture their day! Of course I said yes!

Lucy and Ben live in Aston Clinton like me and chose to get married and have their reception at the beautiful Kings Chapel in Old Amersham. My day started at the venue and we got really lucky with a beautiful spring day with blue skies. The bride got ready at home so I took the opportunity before everyone started to arrive to capture the groom and groomsmen and some venue photos.

The ceremony was held in the converted Baptist chapel with it’s domed ceiling and backdrop of twinkle lights and foliage. It really is so beautiful. As well as providing bouquets and buttonholes, the florist Two Girls and Some Flowers also adorned the stairs up to the original pulpit with bottles of fresh and dried flowers.

The weather was perfect for having reception drinks in the garden and there were plenty of games for the children (and adults!) to play. We took this opportunity to get family photos and the bridal party as well as some couple portraits. I always like to take my couples off for some quiet time together to get some beautiful images around their venue. There are lots of beautiful backdrops at Kings Chapel, so I was spoilt for choice.

The wedding breakfast was back in the chapel room where rows of chairs for the ceremony had been replaced with tables for the wedding breakfast. Speeches followed the meal and were fantastic – I love the reactions speeches get and even I was welling up and close to tears! Always testament to a well loved couple with awesome family and friends, and after when the party started, they didn’t half fill that dance floor up! My kind of people!

I’m going to be designing a photo album for Lucy and Ben and as well as ordering some artwork for them to display in their home.

Lucy’s Review: “We originally met Tanya in 2020 when she was doing doorstep photos and loved her relaxed style and the photos were brilliant. Shortly after we were engaged and knew exactly who to book to be our wedding photographer. Tanya was fantastic on our wedding day capturing the most amazing photos whilst we still managed to enjoy every minute of the day with our friends and family. We had lots of comments from our guests about how friendly Tanya was and made everyone feel at ease in front of the camera. We couldn’t be more pleased with our photos and now have the difficult task of picking our favourites for Tanya to create a lovely story book that we can treasure forever.”

Pitstone Family Photo Shoot

Pitstone Windmill is pretty iconic in the local Bucks and Herts area, and when a local family wanted a photo shoot there, I jumped at the chance. I've taken photos here before, but with the windmill as my subject matter rather than a family. This was a returning...

Lily and the Family

I often get requests to include the family dog in photo shoots, but this was a first - being asked to include the family VW van! We had the most beautiful and warm autumnal day and Lily (the van!) looked perfect amongst the Ashridge countryside. However, it wasn't all...
